If Find My iPhone is enabled on your missing device You can use Find My iPhone to find your device and take additional actions that can help you recover it and keep your information safe.
Open Find My iPhone, and select a device to view its location on a map. If the device is nearby, you can have it play a sound to help you or someone nearby find it. Turn on Lost Mode. Report your lost or stolen device to local law enforcement. Law enforcement might request the serial number of your device.
Find your device serial number. To prevent anyone else from accessing the data on your missing device, you can erase it remotely. When you erase your device, all of your information including credit, debit, or prepaid cards for Apple Pay is deleted from the device, and you won't be able to find it using Find My iPhone.
After you erase a device, you can't track it. This allows another person to turn on and use your device. Report your lost or stolen device to your wireless carrier, so they can disable your account to prevent calls, texts, and data use.
You still receive phone calls and FaceTime calls. You can resume using suspended cards on your device after you unlock it and sign in to iCloud.
Lost Mode requires an iOS device that meets minimum system requirements. This passcode is distinct from your password and is only used to lock your Mac. If you forget the passcode, or if you set an EFI firmware password on your Mac before it was lost, then lock it and later find it, you may need to take it to an authorized repair center to unlock it.
If your device is online when you put it in Lost Mode or lock it, it locks and tracking begins if applicable.
You can turn off Lost Mode or unlock your device by entering the passcode. For a Mac, the passcode is the four to six digit number you set up when you locked your Mac. If your credit and debit cards for Apple Pay were suspended because you put your device in Lost Mode, when you turn off Lost Mode and sign in to iCloud, you can resume using your cards. Click Unlock, then follow the onscreen instructions to verify your identity with your Apple ID password.
